Evidence should outlast power.

REKODI preserves and reviews evidence of corruption, abuse of power, police violence, bribery, and other serious misconduct in Kenya. Every submission is preserved and reviewed. Nothing is published automatically.

Independence and limits

REKODI is an independent public-interest initiative. It is not affiliated with the Government of Kenya, the National Police Service, DCI, a political party, or any law-enforcement agency. REKODI is not an emergency service.

In immediate danger?

If someone is in immediate danger, contact an appropriate emergency service or a trusted local support organisation where doing so is safe.

Process

How a submission becomes a record

Six deliberate stages. Each one is performed or approved by people.

  1. 01

    Submit privately

A source provides a description and potential supporting material.

  2. 02

    Preserve

Original material is retained separately from any public version.

  3. 03

    Review

Trained reviewers examine context, completeness, provenance, and potential risks.

  4. 04

    Corroborate

Claims are compared with supporting records, independent sources, and relevant public information.

  5. 05

Minimise harm and seek a response

Sensitive details are redacted where appropriate, and seriously accused parties are offered a meaningful right of reply.

  6. 06

    Publish carefully

Only an editorially approved, redacted public record is published. Updates and corrections remain visible.

On automated tools

AI may assist with mechanical tasks such as transcription, translation drafts, duplicate detection, and metadata extraction. It must never determine truth, guilt, credibility, naming, or publication.

Source safety

Before you share anything

  • 01Anonymous reporting is the default.
  • 02A normal website cannot guarantee perfect anonymity.
  • 03If you face serious surveillance or retaliation risks, do not rely on an ordinary web form.
  • 04Remove unnecessary identifying details from your description.
  • 05Optional contact information, when eventually supported, will be kept separately and treated as confidential.
  • 06Real evidence must not be submitted through this prototype.

Editorial standards

The rules we hold ourselves to

  1. 01Allegations are distinguished from verified facts.
  2. 02Serious publication decisions require human review.
  3. 03Sensitive personal information is minimised or redacted.
  4. 04Accused parties receive a meaningful opportunity to respond.
  5. 05Published records show their evidentiary basis and limitations.
  6. 06Material changes and corrections are documented.
  7. 07No submission is published automatically.
  8. 08REKODI does not sell personal information or evidence.
  9. 09Popularity and virality do not determine truth.

Right of reply & corrections

Named in a record? You can respond.

People and institutions mentioned in a future published record will be able to respond, request corrections, and add evidence. A reply does not automatically remove a record, and an allegation is not treated as fact simply because it was submitted. Any dispute process will preserve the public revision history.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I report anonymously?

Yes. Anonymous reporting is the default. No ordinary website can guarantee perfect anonymity, so please read the source-safety guidance first.

Is this website part of the Kenyan government?

No. REKODI is independent and is not affiliated with the Government of Kenya, the National Police Service, DCI, any political party, or any law-enforcement agency.

Will my report be published immediately?

No. Nothing is published automatically. Every submission is preserved and reviewed by people first, and many may never be published.

How does REKODI decide what to publish?

Through human editorial review: assessing provenance, corroboration, public interest, and potential harm, and offering a right of reply to seriously accused parties.

Does AI decide whether an allegation is true?

No. Automated tools may help with mechanical tasks like transcription, but never decide truth, guilt, credibility, naming, or publication.

Can someone named in a record respond?

Yes. Named parties are offered a meaningful opportunity to respond, and responses are shown alongside the record.

Can a published record be corrected?

Yes. Corrections and material updates are made openly, with a visible, dated revision history.

Is REKODI an emergency service?

No. If someone is in immediate danger, contact an appropriate emergency service or a trusted local support organisation where it is safe to do so.

Can I submit real evidence through this prototype?

No. This version does not accept real evidence. Nothing is uploaded, transmitted, or stored.
